Open Call: The Future is…
October & November 2024
Each day feels as though we are living through an unprecedented Present moment. As a society, we are navigating a barrage of information about the upcoming election, violent global conflicts, threats to human rights, domestic power dynamics, climate crises, excessive corporate greed, discrimination and hatred, and unfathomable personal challenges - all while still finding ways to love and give and connect and hope for a future that is greater than the days of past.
In “THE FUTURE IS…” we’re seeking work that expresses the artist’s interpretation of the human experience as we collectively press forward into a future unknown. For this Call for Art, The Gallery at Union Coffee is hoping to discover work that explores the concept of Future - near or distant - as predicted, desired, feared or anticipated by the artist and expressed through their preferred medium.
Works in all mediums will be considered and sculpture will be considered given space restrictions of the shop.
